Rowing Adventure – HCL Workforce 1

About 12 months ago we were approached by two very well prepared and very professional chaps who had decided to take on the challenge of rowing the Atlantic. Not only did they have the immense challenge of rowing the 2,935 miles but also raising £70,000 in order to get to the start line and then a further £105,000 to split between 2 charities.
We decided to become one of their sponsors by designing their fundraising materials which included direct marketing material, corporate facing brochure and also banner stands as they toured the local area in search of financial help in order to raise that enormous sum. The fundraising flyer idea we came up with was a printed plan of a boat which you can make up and send a cheque back in the boat.
The journey was an absolutely huge achievement and we thoroughly enjoyed watching their progress over the 70 days that it took them to cross the ocean. Watching a tiny dot make steady progress across a satellite image. Their diary/blog was fantastic to read and I would encourage everyone to look at this if you have any inclination to do the same challenge. Their website which explains the whole adventure is here.
The charities they were raising money for were the Chestnut Tree Hospice provides expert palliative care, practical advice and support to children with life-limiting illnesses across Sussex and Grafham Grange Special Educational Trust a charitable organization responsible for the maintenance of two schools that provide care and bespoke education for children from 6 to 17.
Well done to Joe and Chris – two amazing guys.
