Brighton Half Marathon
Half Marathon Brand and Website
The Half Marathon is the primary fundraiser for the Sussex Beacon, a clinical care centre for men and women living with HIV. We were chosen as their new marketing and design agency early in 2010 and have thoroughly enjoyed working together on this project. The name change from the Sussex Beacon Half Marathon to the Brighton Half Marathon was to celebrate it’s 21st year and the fact that the Brighton Half Marathon is one of the longest established and most popular seafront road race events in the UK.
We began by designing a new logo and style for the half marathon brand to celebrate the 21st race and the new name ‘The Brighton Half’. We concentrated on making the logo iconic of Brighton, with a fresh and vibrant mark that retained a sports edge. The brand was then carried across to all the supporting materials from the signage, advertising, merchandise through to the finish gantry!
The new website also needed to carry through the design style and appeal to the broad audience that the Brighton Half Marathon crosses. With a large amount of information the site needed to be functional and simply navigable but enticing the user to sign up. The brand is now evolving into 2012 and the race will be an even bigger race and celebration with registration open to 12000 runners.
We commissioned Door 22 to re-vamp our brand and website in 2010. They were able to capture the essence of the Brighton Half and its key themes perfectly. The team are great to work with and have consistently delivered on numerous (last minute) requests. As a charity they understand our need for close budget management and help us to achieve that.
