NHS Information Pack for Fathers

My other half found the breastfeeding pack for new dads really useful. Once he’d read it, he brought me drinks while I was feeding and was much more attentive – making sure I’d eaten properly etc. In fact, when I think about it, I found the pack pretty useful too – thank you!

New Mum – Brighton

We were appointed to design an information pack to encourage and inform fathers in Brighton & Hove on how to be involved in breastfeeding with their partner. After some research was conducted, it was reported that fathers between 20 – 35 felt removed and not informed enough about breastfeeding and how this can affect the mother and baby. The pack needed to be engaging, accessible and informative and encourage him to be involved as much as possible with all the facts that he needs to be a supportive partner and father.

The imagery used in the pilot pack was fun and light-hearted, bridging the gap between standard information along with helpful tips and facts that aimed to make them feel knowledgeable and included! It was a lively, accessible way for men to become part of something that they often feel left out of! The pack also included messages on beer mats to further lighten the tone and delivery of the information.

We worked for and together with the National Social Marketing Centre on this project. The NSMC are a strategic partnership between the Department of Health in England and Consumer Focus.
