Charity awards logo marking the anniversary of an organisation making life better for carers

Carers UK

The context

Carers UK exists to make life better for unpaid carers. In 2025, the charity marks its 60th anniversary – a significant milestone. To mark the occasion, they’re launching a new annual awards programme to recognise the important work that carers do.

The challenge

The awards night is a black-tie, celebratory event with purpose at its core. The awards embody Carers UK’s 2025 Vision: Equality, Support and Recognition and the 60th anniversary theme: Equality, today and tomorrow.

Visually, the brief was complex. The new awards logo needed to:

  • Sit comfortably alongside the core Carers UK logo and 60th anniversary mark
  • Add clarity and visual sense to an already busy brand story
  • Feel celebratory and prestigious, without overlooking the realities carers face
  • Be versatile enough to apply across materials for nominees, winners and event branding

Our approach

We began by building on the visual language already present in the charity’s identity. Both the Carers UK logo and anniversary mark incorporate a ribbon-like style, so we extended this idea – designing bespoke, ribbon-like lettering as the centrepiece of the awards logo.

To signal celebration, we introduced a constellation of stars in varied sizes – representing the many forms caring takes. A complimentary colour palette added a sophisticated tone and personality, supporting the event’s prestige while staying respectful of the work still ahead.

The circular roundel format gives the logo a flexible, stamp-like quality, ideal for digital and print use and allowing flexible and playful placement. To extend its impact, we created secondary versions of the logo for winners and shortlisted nominees to use in communications and social media.

Finally, taking further inspiration from the ribbon, we crafted a small suite of confetti graphic assets to accompany the logo for Awards materials implementation.

The result

The awards identity adds a celebratory, elegant layer to Carers UK’s anniversary branding – clearly marking the importance of the event without overpowering the core mission. It strikes a balance between joy and recognition, showing that while there is much to celebrate, the work of supporting carers continues.
